LEVELS

BEGINNERS (A) : is divided in 2 subcategories. This level equals to years in middle school in France.

  • A1 : means the whole discovery of the language. The person can eventually know few words but has no basis.
  • A2 : the person has an elementary knowledge of the language. He has the half basis so it is uncomplete. He cannot interact in daily life in french.

 

INTERMEDIATE (B) : is divided in 2 subcategories. This level equals to years in high school in France.

  • B1 : the person knows the essential french for daily life, to read and understand simple texts, but still feel insecure when using it.
  • B2 : the person is able to read and understand simple texts but also some complex books about a theme the person knows well in its own language. Moreover, there are still mistakes when the person talks and writes.

 

ADVANCED (C) : is divided in 2 subcategories. This level equals to years at university in France.

  • C1 : language mastered to talk about daily life, work and subject the person likes. Some mistakes are still there when it is about something they don’t know well or not at all.
  • C2 : Excellent level almost native, just need to see the subtleties of the language.

 

BUSINESS : You don’t really have a level for that. It’s just a part of the language you’re specialized in. If you need it in your work because you want to make business with French people, that’s why you could need it. So, you don’t need to learn all the vocabulary based on life. You only need the vocabulary about your professional area.
